Myth vs. Fact: SQ 805 and sexual crimes

Just like domestic violence, no one would not support any measure that took a soft approach to crimes against children, and we wouldn’t ask anyone else to support it. As it turns out, child prostitution and human trafficking are included on the list of violent offenses. They remain untouched by SQ 805.

Facing parent pushback, Owasso schools announces reopening

With its school-board members facing a voter-recall effort, officials at Owasso Public Schools announced Friday that the school will reopen for in-person instruction on Sept. 17 and conceded that the district’s prior standards for reopening were “unrealistic.”

In July, Owasso officials announced that parents would have a choice between in-person or online-only instruction in the 2020-2021 school year. But on Aug. 4, officials abruptly changed course, announcing the school would go entirely virtual.

Free Market Friday: Growing support for school choice

As Ja’Ron Smith, deputy assistant to the president, noted at the RNC, education “is the great equalizer.” Those who say they fight for equality can prove it and join the fight for greater school choice in Oklahoma.💪

The recent Republican National Convention was notable for the consistent and forceful advocacy of school choice.

New documentary defends the Electoral College

Destroying a system that has helped ensure peace and stability for centuries seems foolhardy at best. Unfortunately, progressives are trying to do precisely this by nullifying the Electoral College and replacing it with a national popular vote. A new book and a new feature-length documentary from OCPA and Save Our States make the case for Hamilton’s “excellent” system💪

Choice is what parents need in the era of COVID

School choice is not a magic wand that removes tradeoffs and hard choices. But it allows parents to make the tradeoffs that make sense to them.

Why don’t schools mandate masks? No COVID

Thirty-five percent of OK schools do not mandate mask-wearing. Why not? Because there is little or no COVID-19 in many of those communities, most are small districts able to socially distance students, and the absence of a mandate does not mean the absence of masks.

A survey recently conducted by the Oklahoma Department of Education found 346 school districts, or 65 percent of the 536 districts surveyed, have some form of mandatory mask policy in place for teachers or both staff and students

The Tulsa Public Schools district is not offering in-person instruction to any students for at least nine weeks, which means the district will potentially save millions on transportation costs, utilities, and similar expenses.
